There are some situations that u can not have the static ip address from the ISP, but u still need to be able to connect to your home/office network from internet (VPN,Web Server, FTP Server,...). In that case u can use dynamic dns. let me explain the procedure;1) u have to use one of the web sites that offer this service such as http://www.dyndns.com/ and make an account there.( In fact in this case u r making a dns record that points to your Public IP address ,this dns record will be configured on the web site with some predefined dns domains such as *.dnsalias.com .Becuz of that it is not static and it can be changed, u must some how let the web site to know the change. In order to do that go to step 2.)
2) install the dynamic update software from the web site and install it on a server that is connected to the internet and configure the same credentials on it. now when ever there is a change in your ip address the software will change the dns record for u.
so u can connect to the dns name of your network not the ip.
