If u want to create a child domain and the child domain has its
own DNS server follow these steps:
A) Manually Create a Delegation for the Child Domain on the Parent (Root) DNS Server(Contoso.com)
Enable Dynamic Update( Zone properties) ; also configure forwareder that points to the parent's DNs Server for resolving parent's dns domain
D) Make child domain DC DNS Client of itself:
1. Press windows logo + Pause
2. Under Computer name tab press change then more
3. Type the child domain name
G) Change zone type on child domain to Active Directory Integrated and also zone's DDNS to secure only

F) Promote domain controller.
Impossible! You need the (not yet) Child Domain controller pointing to the root domains DNS before you can promote it.
